About time Elin!

Okay, so seriously... he admits to 121 affairs during a 5 year marriage? 121 different women!!! That is unbelievable, but almost more unbelievable that it took 5 years to get caught. The fact that it has taken her this long to file for divorce is beyond me. If she is in it for the money, she clearly has a legit amount heading her way regardless.

In other news... Sandra Bullock has an adopted baby. (Who is adddddorable.) I've heard of two people going to the ER today for stitches AND Cinco De Mayo party at my place next Wednesday!
Sorry to my 8 faithful followers that this is a quick one, but I've got to get my lazy booty to the gym!

Goodness I am terrible at the blog thing. Bleh. I rock at status updates though... anyway. So my life since my last update has been INSANE. literally. Recap: Molly's wedding = fabulous. My sister was absolutely stunning. You can imagine that already though, she is amazing. The wedding day was flawless- she was only a slight bridezilla (love you sis!) Brad and her are so in love and so right for each other too. I felt blessed to be a part of it :) After the wedding life was still nuts. Of course, I had to miss the Viva Las Vegas bowl considering it was the day after the wedding- BUTTTT I ended up getting to watch it with some bff's in Portland instead. My favorite equest girls also threw a nice Christmas sweater bash- cops came and everything. REAL intense. I got slightly grounded because of my lack of sweatering and too much tinsel policy thing. Oh well... it was fun. The next morning I got up for a trip to paradise. Yes, while my baby sister was honeymooning, my parents, Liz and I decided to head to Hawaii. Maui was really unreal and super fun! Liz was easy to bring along (clearly.) We got into a little bit of mischief and I managed to step on coral the first day (see photo below.) Every single local I talked to, told me I would probably get a staph infection... I was freaking out (typical) However, I ended up being fine in the end. PHEW. Trust me, you don't want to deal with this baby when it comes to doctors, pain tolerance, etc. On the bright side though, we ended up seeing whales, went snorkeling, met some locals, went to a luau and saw a lot of hawaiian skin, went to church with a magician, etc. Solid trip! We arrived back to Portland around 11:30 pm, then the next morning (NYE) my flight left for Phoenix where I went to spend a few days with my girl Jules! I always love going to Arizona, in fact it was my fourth trip of the year to see her. I ended up buying this gold sequin dress in Hawaii special for New Years... but upon arrival Julie mentioned that she planned on wearing jeans. Needless to say, I didn't get to wear the dress and probably a fantastic thing that I didn't. We went to Mill Ave for the evening and it was lots of fun! We had a crew with us. I got to go to the piano bar-- good times there, maybe even too good?? The rest of the trip was legit... it consisted of: Suns game, Sushi, my birthday and riding the bull at SaddleRanch... loves it!Flew home from AZ on my birthday. On the plane I was seated next to a player from the duck football team. I know, they just had suffered a tough loss in the Rose Bowl, but regardless I still despise that team. Our conversation went as follows: Him- "So do you live in Eugene?" Me- "No, I hate everything about that city." Him- "Oh, do you go to OSU?" Me- "I did go there, yeah" Him- "Cool. I just got done playing in the Rose Bowl" Me- "Awesome." Him- "Yeah... I'm on the football team" Me- (confused look on my face..) "You just said that and it's still awesome??" The conversation proceeded, I found out he was 20 and is "into older women" I celebrated my birthday the following weekend. We had a wine party at my sister in laws. That was an eventful day. Amanda (my sis n law) nearly cut off her finger and spent the morning in the ER. We then went shopping where I bought a camera I would lose 5 hours later and never find again. The party was fun- then we ended our night at Dixie.. One thing though that has been pretty crummy lately is that my cousin Paul has been in the hospital after falling off a roof on January 2nd. He is still in there and could definitely use prayers. It's scary hearing everything and seeing my family so upset. He's definitely an amazing husband/father/friend. I know everything is going to work out and it's in God's hands, but it's still been really tough. Okay, so almost caught up to now.. the weekend following my birthday party I took a trip to Las Vegas to visit Gerard and Janelle. I spent the first half with Gerard so we could celebrate our joint birthdays. We did some shopping, went to Yogurtland, then later that night we got to go to the new city center and see Keri Hilson perform at Haze the new nightclub there. I am absolutely obsessed with her- she is my fourth favorite singer. It was super fun and I always an entertaining time watching him mack on the ladies... I miss him so much and it sucks he lives so far away. Definitely glad to get to see him! The next day after the football games were over I got to spend time with my other half- bff Janelle. That is always the best. We went to Sushi down on the strip and also did a little shopping (browsing) in Caesars Palace mall, then headed back to her new fabulous house that I LOVE. She is living in the Veg for a few years finishing school and I miss her everyday. The next day J and I did some shopping/yogurtland then met Gerard for lunch... I went to the airport and all hell broke loose. The sign started flashing "CANCELLED" on my flight. I had a panic attack and started crying to the attendant that I needed a way home... she said that due to the weather in Long Beach (my layover spot) the airport was closed and I'd need to figure something out or leave the following day. I was in turbo mode and ended up buying a 300 dollar one way ticket home later that night, which was delayed and brought me back to Portland SUPER late. BUT I made it, 300 dollars poorer. Lose. Other than those trips my life is pretty laid back... I've been trying to get my parents to adopt a child from Haiti. I'm also getting ready to move in with Jennifer next weekend *so excited* so I've been packing everything up. Work is good. Family is good. I hope you are good too :) Have a fab weekend!

This weather...

As I write this entry in the comfort of my home, it should be known that my fingers are numb and I am unable to type with poise. It's actually almost like I don't have knuckles... or at least I have useless ones...

So this is really starting to remind me of the snow storm weather last year (well minus the snow... so far) and I am reallllllly not a fan. This morning on my way to work, I noticed that my water bottle which had been in my car from the night before had completely frozen over. Normal? NO.

Note to self... don't leave hair wet when walking outdoors, it will snap off.

This whole Hawaiian vacation is sounding better and better. I just may have to take my parents up on that ticket after all.

I've really noticed that this post has no point and I should probably just stop typing, get off my booty and head to the gym as planned. Goodbye :)

Fall 2009* SHEESH!

Working woman! That is what I am now. What a busy, busy fall I have had. It's no wonder I forgot that I even was a "blogger." OKay, so maybe I can't classify myself as a true blogger because that would be unfair to the real die hard ones. I can consider myself an avid facebooker though. Low point.

My busy life all began during the last week of August when I found out that I got a teaching job at Swegle- 3rd grade. I did spend every waking moment there for the first few weeks... but then, lets be real: I received my first paycheck AND football season began. I knew that I needed a life outside of room 18. Don't get me wrong- I spend plenty of time in that classroom, AND I love every second (okay... not everrrry) but most seconds spent in there. My life began completely frustrating as a teacher, and now has calmed down to the point where I enjoy the quirkiness my students bring in. Highlights (errr lowlights?) so far this year: being mistaken for a high school aide, 2 students so far peeing their pants in class, meeting the two greatest fellow third grade teachers ever, learning how to "do the jerk," gifts from students daily (primarily drawings, half eaten foods and apples from their lunches,) Jamie volunteering, Fernando - absolutely hilariousssss, receiving dating advice from my students and of course gossip sessions with Emily and Christina. Needless to say, I love my job.

Other updates. How bout them BEAVS?! I love this football season. Not gonna lie- started out rocky and I was slightly nervous. 2 days from now, we are hopefully RB bound. However, I don't
want to jinx anything, so I am trying to keep it cool.

I've gotten to take some rad trips this fall so far:) I went to Arizona in October then in
November I got to go to Berkeley and Vegas. Yes, Southwestair.com LOVES me.

Baby Molls is getting married in exactly 2o days. I can't believe that the day has come for my baby sister to walk down the aisle. I couldn't be more thrilled for her an
d Brad. I can't wait for her special day and for the opportunity to be MOH. Oh gosh- better start writing my speech. (Don't worry, I have been googling this and trying to get out of it since I first found out!)

That is pretty much it. Ohhh wait. How could I forget? Probably the highlight of all of this has been that since the time I wrote- my dearest wifey Jamie became single. This has changed my life immensely. All that I have to say is... "She's baaaaaack"

SUMMER.. yes.

Due to my lack of motivation when it comes to sitting in front of a computer screen for longer than my online classes permit I have been an all caps LAME person when it comes to updating. The only thing that inspired me to update now is the fact that I am overrrr writing another reflection paper about the same topic I have already written countless reflection papers on.. ya dig?? However, for the record - - - I am "officially" a completed graduate this Sunday when I have turned in every last piece of school work I EVER will have to take again. Praise the Lord.
--- Graduation BBQ with cohort

--- First trip to AZ with Kell on a hike SB 2009

--- Second trip to AZ visiting Jules. June 2009.

--- Goodbye party I threw for bestie Janelle. May 2009.

--- Welcoming precious baby Isaiah. Love at first sight :)

--- Wedding party for Mal bride to be :)

--- Vegas to visit Janelle. July 2009.
--- On stage with the band at St Paul Rodeo. July 2009.

So my life since my last update in uhh... December? Wow. Lot's has changed. Quickly pull up to speed until current: completed student teaching, went on some vacays, began tutoring again, said goodbye to two of my besties, welcomed new babies, engagements and weddings for my friends, continued mentoring, had a love/hate relationship with the gym, rocked it on stage with the band at the RODEO and of course had three ear infections. (That was completely worth mentioning because they never leave me alone...everrrr.)

So where am I now? Pretty much 2/5 of my Salem life has left me for Spain (in case you failed to get the daily updates for the past month from Jamie about where she is going... LOVE YA JAMES...) I have found a new love in my life: ZUMBA. Have you tried it? It's a dance/workout thing. I am convinced that I have a few signature moves while in the class - otherwise I try and blend in orrr stand out by my lack of understanding. Nonetheless it is fun and here is a video link to watch "skilled zumba-ers" on Youtube:
I have been housesitting the past week and it's been super nice and relaxing having the house to myself. I have been watching these two hellian dogs. Actually one of them is super sweet and the other one is a handfull. CURRENTLY: the handfull has escaped somehow (first time for me this week) and is wandering the streets of Illahee. I already searched, now I am leaving it up to good faith that she will return. Pray about that. I've had some visitors this week - last night my sister came and that was fantast. She has been at camp allll summer and I have missed our bonding moments - BEST SURPRISE EVERRR. She is such a blessing in my life. I love talking to her because she always presents so much wisdom in everything she says. I needed that last night. Anyway.

I am about to draw this whole journal thing to a close for the day (promise to be better about this update stuff again..) BUT first I want to share some valuable Megan insight with you:

1. No one is there for you all the time like Jesus <3

2. Actions speak louder than words

3. It is okay to say "NO" to people hahaha

4. Laugh at least every hour... if possible every 5 minutes (I prefer this one)

5. Grass isn't always greener on the other side

6. Get some form of exercise everyday - not only is this essential for health, but also for sanity :)

7. Practice what you preach

8. SMILE

9. Express how you feel - you don't want to live with regrets

10. It's okay to not be perfect - everyone makes mistakes... move on with class

So there was my insightfulness for the day... bahaha. On the days grind?? DOG SEARCH (clearly) - running in the heatttt - PDX for some bachelorette party planning (ideas??) - Dinner date - Wanna blade for dayz (takers??) - projects (booooo) - cozy up in the hammock for a good read.
Ciao!

BEAV TOWN

By "Beav Town" I do not mean my favorite town of my fellow beavers (Corvallis obv.) but I actually am referring to BEAVERTON where I am housesitting for my dear brother and sister in law. They left to head to California for the holiday (a much deserved break for them hard workin folk) and asked me, their little sis to watch over the place. Although I would love to elaborate right now about my time so far here in the Beav, I'm going to have to start with my Christmas week!

SO... last Sunday night we were supposed to have our annual Nelson family Christmas party with our fam friends (Bates, Browns, Dangarans, & Cornthwaites) however, the terrible ice up our hill was so bad that we canceled our 6 pm party around 4 pm that day. Thank goodness we did so, because as soon as 630pm rolled around the power was out. I know it is hard to fathom, but I am not really much of the no power kinda girl. I prefer power... big time. Molls and I gathered our candles (all 3473284234 of them) and lit them. Didn't do much of anything. Let me also mention that prior to the power going out I had taken a shower (wet hair), I also had clothes in the WASHER soaking wet and I was currently baking sugar cookies. Not awesome at all. I quickly told my parents that since it was only 630, we couldn't go to bed SO we drove down to Movieland and watched "Yes Man" (kinda funny, mostly lame) and then headed home with high hopes of having the power back.

3 days later... we got our power back. I occupied myself during those days at the Salem Center Mall (lowest points of my vacation spent there), using my aunts shower and electricity, Chel/Jfay's apartment, getting locked out of their apartment in the snow and in workout clothes and lastly going to get my hair did and dyed dark. Wow I am full of tangents during this post.

Christmas eve hit and despite the weather my faja and I toughed out the 8 hour round trip to Portland to pick up a girl from my grad school program to spend Christmas with our family. Xia Du is from Beijing and didn't have plans for Christmas so we decided to invite her. It was so awesome having her come spend time we us. I learned so much about her culture... I am like so cultured now with Chinese info. Did you know that you can't have big dogs in Beijing because they take up too much space? Also, did you know that you can only drive your car every other day? SO much info. Anyway, she is a very sweet girl and we loved spending the holidays with her. She even drew me the greatest picture with the sweetest note. She brought my family some traditional Chinese gifts as well.

Fam on Christmas

I brought her home back to Portland today and had quite the adventure getting her there. The roads were perfectly snowless until I got to her street and my car got stuck on the corner. It was awesome when 10 men came out and pushed me out of the snow. Quite the kind neighbors she has!

Wellllll gotta go get ready! Meeting up with a friend for a drink! HAPPY FRIDAY FRIENDS!!!!

Brit Spears Concert

It is official.. Britney is coming to Portland in April! Liz and I are jumping on the BritBrit Train as quickly as we can. In case anyone is curious... she is officially coming!!!

Anyway, it is almost Christmas and tomorrow is the day I celebrate our "Family Christmas." I am feeling a little bit overwhelmed because I really have NO idea what I am going to get for my brother and sister in law... I officially have 24 hours to figure this tricky puzzle out. Any ideas?

On another note I am no longer going to San Fran at the end of this month... depression has hit. I miss Julie already. Sorry Jules :( I will see you in March girl! LV her we come!! (Chels, Jfay... you better be serious about this one!)

Have a great day folks. Holla atcha girl!

Let it Snow... Ice Over... and ugh House Arrest!!

Winter Wonderland eh? Yeah that's what I keep hearing. Typically I would enjoy the snow... well like I like it on the mountains for skiing or whatevs. I also looooooved snow days back when I was in school still (ah that ages me) but it can be a bit of a pain when trying to get from place to place... ya dig?! I guess as a student teacher I still got the day off, but anyway.

Our house... ohhh snow...

So a friend of mine from down in Corvallis went home to California for the weekend and since I clearly have nothing else to do with all of my time off (1 month... yeah I know!) I told him that I would be willing to take him to and from the airport if he drove his car to Salem and just parked it in front of my house. He was of course all about it because he didn't have to pay for parking, just give me gas money honey. So when I dropped him at PDX I got there painlessly in an hour with my speed devil speeds obv. Well his plane flew back to Portland this morning at 820 am. Keep in mind that the news was saying to avoid driving at ALL costs because of frozen roads and all that danger. I've NEVER driven in the snow before... but I knew that I had to pick him up this morning. So I braved the drive... ohhh man... stories...

Well coming down from my hill I officially slid into the intersection on a red light. Bad, bad start. I quickly learned not to brake fast! Driving down the road at a solid 20 mph and 35 of I-5 I was set to a nice 2.5 hour drive to PDX. On the way there I kept getting hit with snow falling off of trucks so it was getting all over my windshield and I could only wipe so much because it was just frozen to my window instead. Soon I couldn't see at all... so after grabbing him we went straight to the nearest gas station to wash my windows... well their pipes had frozen so the man gave me some windex and some words of wisdom and off out to the freezing cold we were cleaning the window... worked too!!

I hope everyone enjoys my non showered look. Clearly not dressing to impress!! Haha!

So continued home... saw a half dozen flipped cars, about a dozen cars that went into ditches, stopped traffic, ohhh and a BICYCLIST!!!... folks don't drive!!! It is nuts... gosh I'm such an Oregonian.

Got home to find my sister and mom getting ready to walk to Starbucks... job ahead of us!! Picture with them and then getting HIS car ready to drive back to Corvallis. He, also, has never driven in the snow. I gave him the same pep talk that my dad gave me: "4 car lengths, not 2...don't brake hard... don't get road rage... etc."

Some of the days pictures:

Mom, sis and I

Attempting to clean his car off with our dust pan

Goodbye photo... saying drive safe and telling him that he owes me big time!!! I accept cash, credit, travelers checks, personal checks and IOUs...

Unfortunately my day was not exactly SUPER FUN as far as playing in the snow, but rather trying to stay safe. So, looks like now I will go and work on peoples Christmas presents and wait for my friends to get off work!! Maybe make a snow angel?? I don't know. Happy, Happy day friends :)

... 2 for today... Blast From the PAST :)...

So the snow is falling today and I decided that I would go to my box of notes and just share some of the hilarious ones that I have found from middle school. Yes, that is right... I saved some of my notes from middle school. Chels and I were discussing how awful we all treated each other so I had to dig up some memories... wow we sure thought we were awesome and definitely hilarious. If only we knew... we were uggggggly and brats.

Classic one liners from notes that I found.. (keep in mind these notes are half the time TYPED stories...hahaha)

From my 6th grade boyfriend: "Dear Megan, The reason why I didn't put my arm around you is because I didn't think you wanted me to. I think we should hold hands a lot more and I'll try to put my arm around you more too."

From Chelsea: "I think McKenzie is going out with Joe Federico. Because Ty has been giving messages from Joe, and I tell McKenzie. And then I tell Ty what McKenzie says, and he tells Joe. First Joe said he liked McKenzie. Ty told me and I told McKenzie. And she told me, to tell Ty, to tell Joe, that she likes him. So he did, and then Ty told me that Joe said, "Oh sweet!" So I called McKenzie on Tuesday night, I told her, and she laughed."

From a boy in 6th grade: "Dear Megan, Why do you hate me? I still like you even though I called you a dumb blonde freak. If you ever want to go out with me I'll probably be open. Don't be shy.."

From Kate: "Don't talk to Zach about me please. I DON'T like him as a boyfriend!!!"

From Garrett: "... the people that I liked are kind of.. Chelsea, Andria, Stefani Summers, Brittney S, Jessica Harris, and kinda this chick that goes to Crossler, that is it pretty much..."

From Amanda: "Are you going to the Hoop Dance on the 30th? Tomorrow is Christmas and I will wish that you and John, Chelsea and Kyle, Katey and Tony, Kacy/Taran and Justin, and me and PACKY can dance!!!"

Hahahaha okay. I am officially dying over here. All we talked about were boys and the boys who we dated and never even hung out with. Aww the joys of middle school. I officially am loving this whole blog thing. Entertaining my two friends who read this (Chels/Jfay obv) is my life calling!! Enjoy the weather :)

.Church on the Hillllllllll.

So pretty much I have two topics that I want to blog about today the first one being church, because I really enjoyed it. We talked about the miracle of God and how we have to be patient in waiting. The message was good for me because I can sometimes be the most impatient person I know, especially when I want to get on with something. (Must be the dang planner inside of me!) He used one of my favorite verses in one of the illustrations too.. Isaiah 40:28-31 "Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar on the wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."Just thought I would share. I really enjoyed church this morning. It's so important to be patient because there is a purpose to our waiting..
